In July 2015 works commenced at London Liverpool St. Station with Spence engaged to relocate the current ticket office and extend and refurbish platform 10.

The past year has seen fast progress with the strip out and renovation of the existing retail units and station reception, making way for new dining outlets on street level and for a new ticket office and staff facilities on concourse level.

A steel framed building structure and glazed curtain walling have been installed adjacent to platform 10 to accommodate the new ticket office, first class lounge and station facilities. An internal rearrangement of the existing building adjacent to platform 10 has been undertaken to provide facilities for TOC and station staff. These facilities include offices, IT / comms rooms, meeting rooms, store rooms, cash rooms, kitchen, change rooms, toilets, first aid room, disabled toilets, station reception and left luggage. Upstairs, the existing retail units have been stripped out and refurbished to make way for new cafes and restaurants.

The works included a full provision of M&E services to the ticket office, first class lounge, station facilities and TOC and NR offices and demise.

New fire detection and suppression systems were installed throughout with the fire safety works taking into consideration the station’s sub-level station status. Works also included the installation of a sprinkler system and fire alarms which were linked to the station’s main fire alarm system.

Finally, a new sub-station enclosure has been designed and built for the provision of a new transformer.

As the project continues into Phase 2 the old ticket office on concourse level will be stripped out and new shell specification retail units will take its place. These will include shop fronts, capped services and blockwork division walls with service entry / escape doors to rear of units.

On completion, Liverpool St. Platform 10 Improvement Works will provide a better mix of food and retail units for the public in addition to state of the art facilities for station staff.
