THE SPENCE STORY

Family-owned, nationally respected

Spence is a family-owned construction, civil engineering and property services company. We take great pride in providing outstanding quality to our clients throughout the UK and great strength in still being independently run since 1973, when the company was founded by Robert Spence.

Above all else, as one of the foremost specialists in design, construction services, civil engineering and building services, our vision is to always work responsibly and make the safety of our staff, clients, suppliers and users of our buildings our personal priority.

  • by having our own in-house engineering, architectural, mechanical and electrical capabilities
  • by having a dedicated in-house skilled workforce
  • through our own trusted team of sub-contractors and suppliers for specialist requirements

HUMANITY

When going about our business we strive to be a considerate neighbour. Our team is expected to engage with clients, stakeholders and the local communities in which they operate not only with respect but also to keep them fully informed of all issues which might affect them.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Ethics and sustainability are not just words to Spence. They are the backbone to the very way we conduct ourselves and our business. Our aim is to always have a positive impact on our staff, our clients and all the communities we are involved with in our work.

Our strong values are the foundation of everything we do and not only help us deliver the very best to our clients but form the basis of instilling leadership in our team and integrity in the way we operate. During our operations we maintain a consistent approach that satisfies the legitimate interests of all people concerned. This applies to all stakeholders.

In addition to constantly providing the very best for our clients, our key areas of corporate responsibility lie in:

Health and Safety
Spence aims to maintain one of the best health and safety records in the industry. This is the core objective when we train our staff, develop our risk assessments and improve cultural behaviour.

Sustainability
Whilst we always aim to create commercial success for our clients, we are always aware of our responsibility to communities and our environment and strive to preserve resources, recycle materials and create more opportunities for everyone we are involved with.

Regeneration
We are proud of the way our projects have delivered benefits to the environment and how our construction solutions always consider the long-term impact on local communities.
