Spence’s façade restoration works at MacMillan House, Paddington have been short-listed for a #National Railway Heritage Award. The project consisted of the rejuvenation of a neglected part of the historically important Paddington Station, designed by Brunel in 1854.

Judges noted the high quality of the restoration works, particularly the craftsmanship used to rectify damages and modifications to the original historic elements. The attention to detail was also picked up on, with judges praising the overdoor Royal Waiting Room panel for its use of Royal Blue, Balmoral Red and GWR green.

The judges commented:

‘The resultant high-quality works are the result of an enthusiastic and conscientious project management team and their appointed contractor, and great care was taken to match and continue the quality of all recent work to this Grade 1 listed station whilst also setting a precedent for future work to the station buildings.’

Congratulations to all involved!
