Overview
Works are now complete at the Piccadilly Line Control Centre where Spence were contracted to carry out the strengthening and fit out of the entire demise, including the provision of building services, fire systems and security systems.
The project is a three-story building which needed converting from a bare shell to house the new control centre. Strengthening of the building included the installation of steel beams and columns, reinforcement of internal brickwork and the installation of high security doors and windows.

Scope
Spence undertook a full fit out including mechanical and electrical, fire protection, communications and acoustics, DDA lift, and stair lift together with internal partitions, finishing, fixtures and fittings.
A full list of works is outlined as follows:

Challenges & Solutions
Whilst on this project, we had to work to specific and unique specifications and working methods set by and bespoke to TfL. This was a very high spec finish into a Victorian structure, which we handled with proficiency.
With the project in progress, we swiftly discovered repairs that were needed to a trackside elevation, which was only accessible by abseiling.
Working in a very exclusive and busy neighbourhood meant that noise and delivery restrictions were a constant consideration.
Blast proofing methods that were used on this site were newly founded at the time of installation. This required adaptability and fast learning of new practices and methods on our part.
