Overview
Spence have recently completed a £485k reinforcement of the bank outside of two arches sat underneath a live train track at Page Green Road, Tottenham.
The retaining structure now supports the embankment and will stand the test of time.

Scope
Page Green Road is a project in Tottenham, North London where we had to reinforce the bank outside of two arches sat underneath a live train track.
A full list of works is outlined as follows:
Structural Works
There was no solid structure running down to the arches, so a supported embankment needed to be made to ensure that the space can be safely accessed in the future.
Ground Floor
Concrete steps were installed with a metal banister so that the access down to the arches was clear and safe.
Civils
The site not only runs underneath the tracks, but also hosts the only access point for those looking to work on the tracks so we had to install structures that allowed railway workers to access whilst also at no detriment to the arches.
Security
Because of the proximity to the live rail track, we had to make sure that the site could be accessed easily by those authorisedto do so, whilst also maintaining a solid level of security so that trespassers couldn’t make their way onto the site.
Challenges & Solutions
For asbestos disposal, we needed to remove 600 tonnesof waste. To ensure the task was completed professionally and efficiently, we subcontracted Rhodar, specialists in this area. We have collaborated with Rhodar numerous times and trust their expertise.
We had to maintain the access to the railway for Network Rail. This was achieved by installing and following a sufficient management plan for the railway maintenance.
