- Construction of new partition walls to form a locker area and dedicated office space for Bakerloo line staff
- Upgrades to lighting throughout the area
- Repairs to raised access flooring and ceilings
- Installation of new doors
- Internal decorations and application of vinyl and carpet finishes
- Replacement of raised access flooring across the ground floor corridor to create a modern, functional environment
Challenges & Solutions
The works have taken place in a live 24 hour building, and more than a dozen offices, male and female toilets and locker rooms are located within our area of works.
We had to relocate signalers, train operators, service managers and various other members of the building to other areas whilst we undertook our works. Many of these areas cannot be put out of action so we have had to have a seamless transition when disconnecting power in one area and reconnecting in another all so live equipment that operates the underground is never affected.
There were staff who have been on night shift who sleep during the day in certain areas so works have had to be planned around that. Some staff require more notice than others for certain areas to be made available to us, some are more noise sensitive than others, each member of the building has had to be looked after in a different way to keep everyone happy.
