Spence have successfully completed the design and construct of the new Bishops Stortford Railway Station. We are pleased to announce, that the modernised facilities are now open to the traveling public.
The works included the construction of; a new ticket office, barrier line, retail outlets and a canopy on the platform. These developments are targeted at improving the passenger experience. We also extended the staff accommodation, to incorporate with the new contemporary build.
The previous Railway Station buildings were constructed over 50 years, being bolted together and amalgamated leaving a disjointed array of building styles. From the very start of this project, Spence’s vision was to remove the existing facilities, and replace them with a fresh, modernised innovative building that would incorporate enhanced facilities, that could be used and enjoyed by the traveling public every day.
Along with sequencing the works, other challenges included the realisation of the overall design concept. Therefore, in order to ensure that every aspect was captured in detail, Spence appointed Veda as the Lead Consultant. Working in partnership with Spence, Veda produced an all-encompassing Multi-disciplined design for Construction.
Spence also appointed key supply chain partners, and their members to undertake the construction of various works. These packages included; Civil Engineering, Steel Erecting, Curtain Wall/Cladding Manufacture and Fitting, Mechanical & Electrical Install, and several internal refurbishment elements. All our works were conducted under the Spence Management team, to ensure that the packages were coordinated and delivered to the satisfaction of the Client.
